About Us

After a vacation to Greece, Pete and his wife Trish enjoyed the local flavors of Athens; particularly the Gyros. Pete grew up spending his summers in Greece and always enjoyed Gyros from the local shops. In Greece a gyro is like a hot dog or burger in the States; they are accessible everywhere. Back home in Philadelphia, Pete and Trish noticed there were Greek restaurants, but nothing like they had experienced in Greece with fast casual Gyros. Pete and Trish had the vision and desire to bring the Authentic Gyro experience they had in Greece to Philadelphia.

Moustaki Authentic Gyros provides fast, casual, and authentic Greek street food for lunch, dinner, events, and parties.

I had only had gyros a handful of times in my life, some 15+ years ago, from food carts in NYC, which were always quite good, but Moustaki has officially set the bar for this flavorful and filling meal. I had the lamb gyro, while my girlfriend had the chicken and we both opted for the mustard sauce. Both were warm, fresh and delicious; a real 10 out of 10 experience, especially for what was a very reasonable price. Aside from the fantastic food, the restaurant was very tidy and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming.

Access to authentic gyros in Philly is a challenge. There are lots of gyros, but many use frozen, pre-cut meat and less-than-fresh veggies. Moustaki is different. Their ingredients are high quality, super fresh, and delicious. Their spices are spot-on, and they deliver one of the best gyros in the city. Also, don't sleep on the waffle fries, one of my fav sides in the area. Be sure you add some extra tzatziki sauce to go with the fries.

I'm not from this state so I was tirelessly searching Yelp for some really delicious food. I took a 20 minute Uber there and back and kept my fingers crossed then entire way skeptical about whether or not the trip was worth it...IT WAS!!!!! Food was amazing. I started to dig in before I could get out the door good! I'm a sucker for great tzatziki sauce and this place has it! If I'm ever back in town this place is on the must visit list!
